In 2023, I was granted an artist residency by The Arctic Hideaway, located in the Arctic Circle in Fleinvær - a remote archipelago located west of Bodø, Norway. Living in isolation on a island no more then 2km in radius, I spend my days collecting field recordings, composing new music, taking photographs, reading, writing and resetting.
The purpose of the project was to capture images and sounds of the landscape to create a audio/visual experience that transports the viewer/listener on their own meditative journey inward.
Upon my return, I shared my images and field recordings with Dutch DJ, Producer and a label owner Rambadu to interpret my work and create a rework of 'Solar Image' titled 'Solar Image (Rambadu Thermohaline Circulation)' referring to the natural process when sea ice forms in the polar regions, leaving behind salt that makes the surrounding water saltier and denser. This denser water sinks, creating a current that moves slowly through the ocean. Thermohaline circulation (THC) is a large-scale ocean current system that moves water and heat, and is a vital part of the global carbon dioxide and nutrient cycles.
